Episode 1 - In the beginning

It was year 2005. It was late at night when everyone was deep asleep. Overwhelmed by the urge to watch the new video DVD Ethan had bought this afternoon, titled "Formula 17", a Taiwanese gay movie featuring a young man aged 17 exploring his identity and finding his "true love" in the big city Taipei, Ethan inserted the DVD and plugged in the headphone ensuring his mother who is staying in the other room did not hear. In the midst of it, Ethan thought to himself, "How I wish I could be experience this intimacy." He continued to watch the movie for the many days ahead, around 11 times. "You are just a plain water," this phrase regarding someone who is ignorant and gullible in the gay circle reherased in Ethan's mind. Ethan is very curious about this world he is about to explore. "How can I know more?" Curious yet afraid, he had some baggages that were difficult to lay off. Ethan went on his usual routine as a University Year 1 student at the National University of Singapore. After completing a day of lecture, meal with friends, he went home to do his tutorials. On the weekends, he would spend his time with church activities. A devoted Christian man, the gay world is something he loves to know more yet daunting at same time. After a long day at school, Ethan decided to release himself by watching gay pornography. As usual, the headphone was plugged in so only he could hear the moanings and conversations. Through the comments listed in one of the porn, he discovered a link to a chat group. He decided to click upon it and a whole new world begins.
